...Fightin' for the freedom of my soul.
Combine the lyrics of life with the words of experiences. Mashup the creature comforts with the most passionate risks. Then hop on board, throw up your feet and go with the flow.
The adventure of life: "Any type of love, it will be shown. Like every single tree, reach for the sky. If you're gonna fall, I'll let you know that I will pick you up like you for I."
In Wisconsin, with the cold and seemingly endless winters, I travel home and abroad to warmer climates searching for a final destination with which to begin anew. Yearning for the crash of ocean waves and the warm tickle against my back from a sun that seems to be an arm's length away, I find new life on the beaches of California, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Florida. The inexplicable experience and feel that surfing holds over my spirit calls me to the salty waters annually. My home base is Wisconsin, though, and I love the non-wintered seasons. Spring's rebirth beckons me to begin my gardening and the pleasantries of the song bird. The beautiful, but short lived summer calls out to my park service work and the "Yours Naturally" motto my employer expresses. My yearning for water is fulfilled at my cottage on the Fox River where I disappear in my kayak for hours. I inflate an inner tube with a crew and we float with libations for several hours filling our pores with sunblock and laughter. Fishing with a rod and reel I search for hours looking to master a walleye that I prefer to return to its watery home. Underneath the night sky, I make a wish to the shooting star that I feel independently connected to as I sit next to my campfire and reflect my life into the flickering flames. The nostalgia from the smell of falling leaves fills my head with memories of a happy childhood trick or treating. Crunching leaves under my shoes, I remember walking to class across the Northland campus on my way to Genetics class in the Science Building.
Solidarity and singlehood are a blessing, but so is the feeling of togetherness and the connection with one another. I long to find my Other and will always reach out with my arms for a heartfelt embrace and search for my smile in the reflection of your eyes.
I'd first hit up a concert watching Zack Attack and singing along to "Friends Forever." Then after that I'd probably go out to The Max and get a burger and milkshake with TWO straws. Afterwards I'd probably be pushing my curfew of 10 pm and have to call it a night so that I could study for Mr. Testaverde's history test. I have an extra ticket for the concert if you're interested!
