Here are some Octopus factoids to start us out: The octopus's brain continues to increase in both size and cell number throughout its entire life. - It is proper to call the eight extremities "arms" instead of "tentacles" when talking about the octopus. “Tentacles” are used by squid to capture prey. These “arms” are used for much more. - They have three hearts. Two are used to pump blood to the gills, one is used to pump blood to the rest of the body
Okay, now down to business.
I'm fun and funny. My humor is often dark and dry. During heart warming scenes in family movies I make dire predictions, such as the brave dog being torn to pieces by coyotes or the heroine falling down the stairs and becoming a paraplegic on the eve of her wedding. I'm sarcastic, witty and quick thinking. I can control myself though, and would never say anything to hurt someone on purpose. Usually anyway. I'm human after all.
My favorite magazine is Esquire and I read every issue until it's dog-eared and sad looking.
I like my steak medium rare. I'm a beer snob and have officially only consumed beer from a can once. It was Fosters and I drank it through a patriotic straw.
I keep the Sabbath on Saturday. I attend weekly. I'm also just a little sacrilegious sometimes. I am ideally seeking another intellectual Christian.
I'm punctual and I have integrity. I'm loyal and give generously when I am able to those in need. I don't understand territorial behavior from other human beings.
My life is a search for the golden mean, the beauty of the balance between extremes.
I started running (and by running I mean walking really fast and running sometimes. The idea here is to change the ratio from 2:1 over to 1:2 and then maybe, wow, 0:3) and I am totally obsessed with mileage.
I am in the research stages of a meat & dairy goat farm business. I like animals, educating adults and children, preserving traditions, country life and cheese...so that just seems to be where my life is headed.
Enough about me. Let's talk about you.
I don't want to tangle myself up in preconceived notions but there are a few things that I know I'm looking for. You must be taller than me (even if only by a couple of inches). You should know that you're not like everyone else and you like it. You should love books, music, and pretty much all human communication. You love to learn and understand the importance of wonder. You should have strong ties to friends and/or family and feel comfortable meeting my friends and family, probably almost immediately, because that's who I spend my time with. You should not feel strangely about talking religion, philosophy and attending church weekly. You should enjoy solitary time occasionally and not freak out at my enjoyment of such. I think you know who you are. Extra points if you've read Shel Silverstein's The Missing Piece and totally agree. If you're not adverse to dressing up as a pirate in public, listening to middle eastern music live, dancing without drinking first, or celebrating Leif Ericson day then drop me a line.
Please don't send me one or two word messages or use single letter or numbers to abbreviate entire words. That irritates me and you will not get a reply.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
I'm open to all kinds of things. I like to eat (who doesn't, really?) and go to new places. I'm always looking for the next opportunity to spill food on myself in front of strangers. I think mainly its important to be able to talk and get to know one another, so what where or what else we do is flexible for me.
