About Eliot
I'm a retired architect/city planner, living in Englewood, NJ, just across the Geo. Washington bridge from Manhattan. Upon retirement I worked at the local library and got to daily chat with lots of people. Budget cuts ended my work there fairly recently. Yes, I do love to read and the library has lots of terrific videos too which greatly add to my pleasure.
I'm not religious but have a great love of nature. My spiritual side flourishes around plants, animals, traveling to exotic places, the Arts - pretty much all of the Arts - and music. Regarding music, about which I'm passionate, I often enjoy it in my special audio listening lounge at home.
Many interests provide me with plenty of stimulation and I am very comfortable with people of all cultures. I love exploring new places and am stimulated by lots of things. I suppose you could say that I'm just a person with a lot of curiosity about,well, almost everything!
Gardening is another of my pleasures and I've loads of plants in my condo. During the summer they're outside on the porch and on the grass. I can cook quite well but I don't do extensive stuff like I did at one time - not especially motivated being single - altho all the right equipment is there.
People tend to think I'm pretty verbal and have a good sense of humor.(Its nice to know that others experience me that way.) Also been told that I come across as being sensitive to the feelings of others (for a guy that is....!). Some years ago, I discovered the wonderful quality of humility - actually, the nobility of humility. Humor has not been missing in my life, thank goodness, and its great to have it hovering in the background just waiting to pick up ones' spirits - a necessity these days I think.
I believe I have good set of values and ethics. When it comes to politics, I'd describe myself as a "progressive", perhaps a "populist".
Having been around for a while now, I've lived and learned and loved - and I'm still learning! This last part, the still learning part, helps me to look forward to new people, places and things.
It would be wonderful to become involved with a warm, 'classy' yet down-to-earth, lovely lady - one available for a long-term, lasting relationship with, maybe, eventually, marriage too.
