So here is a little about me: I think I am a pretty typical 32 year old guy. I go to work, pay too much in rent and have a car. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and have the unusual or weird sense of humor that goes with it. I am what some people lovingly refer to as a picky eater [I don't care what you say, my cow is tastier than your green leafy vegetable will ever be ;) ]. Seriously, most vegetables just don't do it for me. But I do like some fruits (Honeycrisp apples are OMG delicious :) Banana's are pretty yummy too, so I'd like to think I am not completely hopeless when it comes to food). I am more of a day person than a night person. I will seldom stay up until 2am. I will seldom sleep until noon. I like thunderstorms. Traveling the world is not a passion of mine at the moment, or a priority. Yes, there are some places I want to see and one day hope to be able to, but I am not likely to randomly fly to some corner of the Earth on a whim tomorrow.
I am NOT religious. I know some people are looking for someone who shares their religious beliefs., and that is perfectly fine. I don't particularly mind if you are or are not religious, and I am willing to debate the issue with you if you are (friendly debate of course), but I will do my best not to impose my beliefs on you otherwise, and only ask that you would do the same for me.
In the last several months I have started a long process of losing weight. I realize that I am a big guy, and that brings with it a lot of negativity, so I decided to do things the hard way and work it off. I have lost about 60 pounds. I've done this by going to the gym, working with a personal trainer and trying to be more mindful of what I eat. It is still a struggle for me some days, but it has made a tremendous difference in my life. I still have a long way to go to get to where I want to be. Update: Recently I have started having trouble with my knee, which has had the effect of slowing me down, and currently my weight-loss has kind of stalled. Hopefully a little rehab will go a long way and I can get back on track soon.
I do like to get out of the house but do tend to be more of a homebody because I don't like doing things on my own. It's a shell I need to break out of, I'll admit. I prefer to run in smaller circles, I'd rather hang out with the same 2 or 3 people than the same 12 or 13 and all their friends who are going to be coming and going. Some of the things I like to do are watch movies, drive my RC cars, throw around a football, visiting some of the museums, occasionally cooking and comedy shows. I seldom do these things, but I'd love to meet someone to do them with.
Recent events have once again raised a serious conversation about gun control. I personally have no issue with guns in the hands of responsible Americans. I also don't believe that any law will ever prevent a criminal from gaining access to a firearm and using it recklessly. I do like to go to the range on occasion. I would like to meet someone who is at least tolerant, and most preferably would like to join me.
More about who and what I am looking for in a partner:
I would prefer to meet someone about my age, maybe a bit older, maybe a tad younger, though age is only a number if you meet the right person. I don't smoke, and I don't want to spend my life with someone who does. I also don't drink often, and I can go more than a day without alcohol. I don't mind a drink now and then, but I don't want to be with someone who wants to drink excessively or just to get drunk. I think education is important and you should have one beyond high-school. I don't like having to go to work either, but you should have a job and be able to support yourself.
I hope this gives you some insight into me, and if you want to know more, feel free to ask. If you are interested but don't want to make the first move, POF apparently has this nice little “flirt” option for women, seems like a subtle way to drop a hint..
One final note: After reading countless profiles, the one thing I've noticed is that many women ask for a few things when sending a message, namely to send a message that says more than "Hi" or "Hi, how are you.". Also, they say show me that you've actually read my profile. I try to respond to messages, but if you can't be bothered to say more than hi, I am probably going to delete your message.
Thanks for reading!
It would seem to me that something like coffee or a lunch/dinner would be best. I've noticed that many people seem to like this idea of some kind of activity, and its a good idea, but I just can't help but think that if we don't click, it wouldn't be as fun as if we did.
