I moved to Manchester from Southern California about 8 months ago for work. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this UK lifestyle. So far I've learned that I have a "right cool" accent (at least according to the students I work with), I should not wear red or blue in a pub during a football game in Manchester for fear of making many people angry, and that there are a lot of interesting people on public transportation. It is best to wash your hands thoroughly after use. What else can you teach me to help me survive?
If I could think of one word to describe my life, it would be balanced. Here are a few examples:
*On any given weekend, you are equally likely to find me cuddling with my dogs on the couch, dancing on a table in Centre City or having a few pints with friends in a quiet pub.
*I take my job very seriously and work hard, but I also make time for letting loose, exciting adventures and just being a vegetable in my flat.
*On a regular basis I try to eat healthy food and work out, but I also occasionally enjoy deserts, cheese and alcohol (which I'm secure in saying will also prevent me from being a size 4...life is just too short and food is too good).
*I consider myself to be an intelligent individual and can hold my own in conversation, but I also enjoy watching mindless television each night to unwind. (I've figured out how to get American t.v. on my computer, and I couldn't be more excited.)
If you're still reading, excellent. Send me a message and let's see where it takes us.
