About Me
From "I Used to Believe" newsletter October 5, 2011: "When I was about 6 I overheard my mother saying, 'wow, Judy chose a really nice boyfriend.' When I heard the word 'chose' I imagined a line of really handsome muscular men all waiting for me to choose one of them to be my boyfriend. I was so disappointed when I realized dating wasn't like I imagined.

People say I am funny. They also laugh a lot, which is another indication to me that they think I am funny. Sometimes, not always, milk comes through their noses. I sort of feel sorry for them, but also think that maybe they ought to be more careful. Personal responsibility and all.
I tend to be very loyal. I respect people who act in a way that coincides with their beliefs. I try to do that, and I call it "integrity".
I spend my time doing a good deal of wilderness canoe tripping. I have also done a fair bit of sailing, sea-kayaking, hiking, and rock climbing. More recently I have been rowing a recreational rowboat and trying a couple new sports. I grew up in a rural setting, I've taken dance lessons, and volunteered on election campaigns. I sample a variety of things, but have yet to learn an instrument (though I would like to play harmonica).
My education continues, though I attended school for a number of years and picked up two degrees along the way. I did well in school anytime I tried, and tend to think often.
I enjoy good quality pizza (I was on a quest for a while - top picks in Winnipeg Casa Grande and Paradise), and also chocolate, and other things most people appreciate. Do most people appreciate sweet potatoes? I love 'em. Musically, I'm pretty open. I tend to like Alt Country (Blue Rodeo, Nathan, Steve Earl, Sadies, Ridley Bent), but Reggae, Folk, Blues, even Classic Rock are all fine.
I like my work. It is usually very satisfying, and can be really fun, except on those rare days when they kick me in the shins and say things about my mother that I assure you are untrue (they've never even met her!). Yes, life is good - but it will be even better when I meet you.
If you write me, I promise not to call you names or laugh at you. I'll be flattered, and will try to reply in a timely fashion. You really have nothing to lose! If the only thing stopping you from writing me is the absurd beard, write me anyway . . . I will shave it off with very little encouragement. Also, I have an eye colour, and if you really need to know I will tell you, but it seemed pretty irrelevant.
Oh, and if I write you and you don't reply - well - honestly I think it's a bit rude. However, I can take the hint and will not bother you again. If I do write you again, it isn't because I am being stubborn or obnoxious, it's because I have a terrible memory with these sorts of things and POF doesn't keep the message history.

First Date
This would depend on the season, I think. I like to do some sort of activity to get to know people. I also like to eat. Eating ice cream and walking over the bridge is a good one. Biking is another thing I enjoy. 5-Pin bowling, with or without black-lights and a disco ball, is something I would do. I have skated, and it went OK. We could drive to Selkirk and get cinnamon buns, or to St. Norbert Farmer's Market and get vegetables (which are more colourful and better for you, but aren't cinnamon buns). I'm always happy to go canoeing on the Assiniboine, or Seine, or anywhere really, though maybe now it is skiing season.
