About Me
I am divorced and living in the Byward Market, downtown Ottawa. I had the role of the father raising three boys, one teenager and two in their 20s. My two older boys have flown the coop with good jobs here in Ottawa and my youngest is downtown occasionally but lives with my ex wife. I am not much of an active sports enthusiast but participated in my kids sports as a coach, trainer and hockey Assistant General Manager with a Junior A hockey team. As my marriage ended I relocated to the downtown core closer to government buildings. I have good friends as neighbours enjoying weekend BBQs and outdoor events. I also enjoy taking walks down Elgin or Sparks streets and by the canal. On weekends I enjoy the markets and stores downtown, going for fruit and vegetables locally and checking out people on the patios at local establishments.
I would like to meet someone to enjoy time with. I like good conversations with feedback, opinions and different perspectives. I am looking to meet a happy, good natured female for conversation and sharing of interests and if we get along well, to continue some regular dating and continued conversations. When comfortable, we might want to spend more time with each other on out of town weekend trips enjoying the sites, look for hidden treasures and just being together. I would not be opposed to progression to a future partner if we both agree.
Although I travelled globally a lot during my early career in the private sector, work related travel is limited in my current job. It is my intent to take more personal time for vacations in warmer countries during the winter and to one day have a companion to join me on those and other trips from coast to coast in Canada. I remember some of the sites from my childhood and would like to share them and see how they may have changed.
Here is my attempt at filling in some blanks;
THINGS I LIKE:
* Luxurious sheets and fluffy towels especially my duvet or the towels and house coats at a good hotel
* Most Music - live bands, even if they only play covers
* Laughing, smiling, having fun and good conversation
* My boys - watching them grow, seeing them going to and completing school and their continued involvement in sports
* Animals - lap dog or big dog - not sure what I would rather have (the puppy in the profile pictures is my middle son's dog)
THINGS I USED TO LIKE:
* Sleeping in - I don't have a consistent sleeping pattern anymore, I can fall asleep again after breakfast, or at supper time, watching a movie in a theatre or at home on the TV
THINGS I DON'T:
* Camping - my idea of camping has changed with my experiences, a nice 4 or 5 star hotel with a comfortable bed is the type of camp I prefer
* Hunting or fishing - never enjoyed either (people fishing online can be frustrating)
* Not much otherwise - neighbours - my boys are all good

First Date
I much prefer meeting face to face, as opposed to online chatting or phone calls, other than to finalize arrangements before we have our first meeting. I am comfortable meeting somewhere for a discussion over a coffee, seasonal drink or a light meal enjoying time outdoors, at a coffee shop or other establishment. We could also go for a walk to the Rideau Center, around the Market or by the canal. Following the introductions we can determine if there is an opportunity to meet again for that first date.
