About Me
About Me
I grew up in England an came to Canada on vacation 1980; I fell in love with this place and decided to stay.
As you might expect I have a dry British sense of humour and propensity for word-play - the only form of 'mind-games' I indulge in.
I'm in good shape, slim and healthy -- good genes. I exercise - if and when - for fun not because I have to. You wont find me in a gym.
I enjoy Tai Chi both as a form of meditation and as a form of discipline and personal growth. It has led to an interest in various oriental matters. Perhaps one day I will visit China and Taiwan and learn Mandarin.
Close friends say I'm thoughtful (in both senses of the word), loyal, kind, decent ... without actually saying I have a cold nose, floppy ears and a tail :-)
You might find me in a bookstore, a library or a flea market, a boulevard cafe or a ravine trail, or volunteering in a cat rescue center.
I'm shy, so why don't YOU take the initiative an write to me?
I value honest and integrity, even when it hurts; enjoy shaggy-dog stories. Animals seem to like me. I'm known for talking walks with my cats and growing sunflowers. This year I'm trying for climbing roses. I like seafood, cook an excellent Shepherd's Pie (better than my mothers!). I like porridge and digestive biscuits and my coffee mild. I don't watch or have a TV, am not a couch potato, don't own a remote control and have no interest in competitive sports, being photogenic or playing the lottery. I'm an obsessive reader but don't get to write as much as I'd like.
I think being romantic is something you do, not something you talk about.
Things I Don't Do
* I don't feel my age.
I'd like to meet someone who doesn't feel her age either.
* Watch TV
The couch is for the cats.
I'm not a potato
* Play Golf
You can if you want, I don't
* Drink Alcohol
Not much, maybe a glass of wine with the family at Christmas.
I'm usually driving.
* Play the Lottery or Gamble
* Take Milk in my Tea or Sugar in my Coffee
I gave up sugar the day John Lennon was shot
* Watch Sports
I'm really not into competitive sports.
I'd rather read a book or hold a conversation.
* Do Extreme Sports
I like living and having my limbs intact
* Hang Out in the Gym
I'd rather see the countryside on foot
* Have Tattoos or Piercings
* Ride a Bike or Drive a Sportscar
Its never appealed to me.
I'd rather take it slow and admire the scenery.
Things I Do Do
* I appreciate integrity, honesty, creativity, friendship, loyalty.
* I have a curious mind
I enjoy reading and learning about new concepts and ideas
* I love small puzzles and word games
* I run a consulting business and love my work.
Retirement is not in my vocabulary.
* I get energy from looking for new ideas, tackling new projects
I'm always on the lookout or new opportunities
* Care about my health and what I eat
* Cooking for myself and occasionally others
I enjoy trying out new recipes as well as varying old stalwarts
* I'm an obsessive reader. I have an extensive and varied personal library
But don't get to write as much as I'd like.
* Groom my cats
Having a purring cat on your lap is very restful
What I'm Looking For
I am first looking for my best friend, she should be attractive, be fun to be with in good times and bad; have a sense of humour and and a sense of of irony; be a good conversationalist; enjoy many aspects of life; be sincere, honest and trustworthy; not into head games, love animals, and music; have a warm smile, nice eyes, a sparkling and outgoing personality, and love cuddling and kissing. She should have her own life and interests yet appreciate the "joined at the hip" times.
Communication is important...and I appreciate someone who has the courage to say what they really think...whether it is good or bad.
I would like to meet someone to share some of my wide range of interests and share the fun of life experiences and grow spiritually and emotionally.
INTEGRITY, IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT THEN I'M NOT INTERESTED.
"The Tao has just three lessons
restraint, compassion and love.
These are the three treasures.
With love you can be courageous
With compassion you can accept all things
With restraint you can lead"

First Date
The details - where & what - of the first date is open to negotiation. Let's decide together.
Its stressful enough. If these profiles are like resumes, then the first date is like an interview. Of course I want to make a good impression; use the right fork, not slurp my soup a generally keep my foot out of my mouth.
What's important is can we get along? Are we comfortable with each other? Can we be friends? In the long run that's what really matters.
Hence its the second and subsequent that really count, because 'relationships' don't just happen, they have to be built over time so I don't expect "instant chemistry'.
After all, its the company that counts, not the location or the activity. Coffee, Indian dinner, somewhere we can talk - talk and find that hours have gone by without noticing because we have such a great rapport.
