About Me
Thanks for checking out my profile! I recently turned 54 (ouch) and enjoy doing outdoor activities. I'm young-at-heart and fairly adventurous.
I like to visit the sierras, tahoe, the coast, go wine tasting, do home remodeling projects, build things, break things, fix the things I broke, fix things that broke on their own, fix things that my boys broke, see movies and dine out or cook in with a movie. I like to use my fireplace a lot in the winter. I like to hike, kayak, snow ski, camp, bike ride (mountain and road) and snowshoe. Other things I like, but rarely have time to do anymore include water ski, whitewater kayak, mountain climb, scuba dive and play racquetball. I'm always open to trying new things, too.
I have two boys (8 & 10) half-time and enjoy watching them learn and grow. I'm able to trade schedules with their mom so taking trips or getting time away isn't that difficult. They like to 'help' me on home remodeling projects (if you consider sneaking off with my tools and hiding them 'helping'). They help me remember what's important in life and I enjoy every single minute I spend with them. They are a big part of my life and are part of this package. I'm often complimented that I'm a great dad.
I'm hoping to find someone who shares a few of my interests. More importantly, I'd like to find someone who is warm and can be affectionate, with a good sense of humor, someone who has a circle of friends and treats others fairly; someone who has empathy for other people and their feelings, and likes to talk about problems early, rather than let them become obstacles; someone who can just relax, enjoy living in the moment (at least sometimes) and have fun.
I’m unpretentious and outgoing and like meeting new people. I have a good job and have often been told that I'm smart; is it my job to prove them wrong?
I really appreciate someone with a good sense of humor and a quick wit. I find it very attractive in a woman if they are confident (as opposed to being arrogant) and have their own interests. Being affectionate is a must; if you're uncomfortable with holding hands at times and the occasional pda, please pass me by.
Politically, I'm liberal, but I do have a conservative streak that surfaces at times depending upon the topic. I'm financially and personally responsible. In addition to my job, I have a strong entrepreneurial streak.
I like PBS, NPR, The Daily Show, Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Craig Ferguson and stupid sitcoms (The Office, 30 Rock, Modern Family and others). Music-wise, I like classic and current rock, a little country, and especially acoustic instrumentalists (think Eric Clapton), but I'll listen to almost anything. I like the Police, Sting, Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, David Byrne, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Duffy, Gin Blossoms, Eagles, Journey, REM, Kings of Leon, Gypsy Kings, Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Yes, Don McLean, Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Jackson Browne, Aerosmith, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Luther Vandross, Don Henley and more.
I realize that being separated raises questions; I can assure you there is good reason and am happy to explain the situation if you wish to know.
For those of you who made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read my little manifesto; if any of this resonated with you, say 'hi' and tell me about you : ).
