About Me
Welcome to the world of online dating, where you are 'virtually' guaranteed to find your life-long match. I may not be smart, but I know better than that. I am so impressed and appreciative of those who take the time to write a very entertaining, thoughtful and useful profile. Unfortunately (for both me and you) I am not all that good at that. But I'd be a fool not to try.
I've been on this thing for maybe two months now. Hasn't been overly successful, so here is me updating my profile in a last ditch attempt to find a great person to spend time with. First about me:
I have traveled a lot of Europe. Lived in Italy a bit finishing my degree on exchange, then hop-scotched around and landed in Ukraine to teach English. I love adventure. Although I am not physically active right now I absolutely love my life when I am. And I am basically unbiased about how I go about it. From swimming to basketball to salsa to rockclimbing to boxing to jogging to soccer to longboarding to snowboarding. I've done each on a consistant basis at one point in my life and hopefully will again. If I could find a girl to do active things with I'd be a happy camper. I really love laughing, and saying funny things. So if you love laughing and saying funny things too, this just might work. I'm from small town BC (Prince George) and miss the mountains like the flower misses the sun. I did most of my university in Ottawa. I wish I could speak French.
I really enjoy a beer on a patio, a big, tasty, and very healthy breakfast and dinner, inspiring stories/books/movies, talking to my sister, a really tough challenge, the gps feature on my new phone, anything bbq-ed, Rick Mercer (who I recently met in an airport), being organized, getting hysterical, the ocean and as a close second lakes or rivers, putting on a nice suit and tie (but only when done by choice), public speaking, ESPN's Daily Dime, Vancouver, being able to see the Milky Way, exceeding expectations, talking to people who are smarter than me, Rockband (I've only tried it once though), small indepedant cafes or restaurants that are well-run and unique, my grandparents farm, being in small towns, seeing the world, learning, my super cool shoes that look like slippers, and the untouchable sheep skin jacket I often wear when wearing those super cool slipperlike shoes, stuff that's cleaver, people who are cleaver, water with no ice, asparagus, corn on the cob, and just recently salads, when good things happen to good people, talking about basketball with my dad, these salsa classes I've been going to for a few weeks now, nature, mountains, sunshine, getting up early when I'm well rested, a really nice view, when technology is useful, cool, and well thought-out, red wine, vodka (don't judge me, I lived in Ukraine for half a year ok), when people look up to me, having someone to look up to, street performers, homemade stuff, a really passionate kiss, driving through the prairies, Canada, and maybe one or two other things that I can't think of right now.
I'm pretty undecided about what I want to do with my life. Right now I am thinking about two things. I have had an interest in green architecture for quite a while now, but my education doesn't really lend well for that. Regardless it does set off a spark in me. The other idea, which just came to me today over dinner with a friend who is much older, wiser, funnier, more successful, and super interesting (but I won't tell you who he is or else this whole online dating thing will have really backfired on me) is adventure tourism. Probably in with some stream of volunteerism mixed in. I love the idea of zip-lining through a forest, climbing mountains, camping, etc and think it would be cool to somehow couple that with helping out at an AIDS clinic, building a school, putting on soccer camps, or something like that. Too undeveloped an idea for it to really mean anything yet.
When I'm 45 or so I think I'd eventually like to be a cowboy.
Eventually I want to be able to play my guitar good enough to do it infront of groups of people, and sing well enough that it's not annoying. I've always wanted to be good at doing backflips. And I'd like to be able to write with my left-hand one day. I really like writing letters old fashion style. If I had more time I'd like to cook a lot. And I envy people who can speak many languages. For now I'd settle for being able to just speak two, but one day I'll push myself and hopefully learn a few.
Ok, I think as this little profile went on it lost its panache, so I'll leave it at that.

First Date
Well, I'd love to say that I'd show up in my father's suit, with a corsage, chocolates, and flowers picked from my grandma's garden, but I won't. I've heard that the zoo makes a great first date. And so might mini-golf. But the truth is the activity probably doesn't much matter. I'm more concerned about the conversation and the chemistry. A good first date is when a second and a third are sure to follow.
