About Me
Time to change the profile. I -wish- I was able to take a newer pic but it looks like my Canon's been 'napped. Hopefully to be replaced soon.
Taking a new tack. The Longest Relationship (of a year) in my profile basics may infer something on first blush. In my younger years, I didn't want a 'situation' (there are worse and all is relative) like my parents; nothing involving violence. It wasn't 'til I was 30, when invited to Saskatoon for a wedding of a friend from Kenora, where I've had lived for most of my life, whom I helped leave to escape an abusive situation. There, I met someone, a whirlwind relationship that lasted nearly a year. The problem there was that her ex had custody of the kids. More than 1000km away, many trips for both of us, the affect of their absence hurt her and I wasn't prepared to quit my good job and move. But it was important even late in life to learn that I could love and be loved.
After that, well, I don't 'network' and Kenora's was a small 'pool' to 'fish' in. I just kept myself busy and distracted. Going out for coffee, my satellite dish, the computer, work incl. time with the Humane Society, reading, ham radio and the company of my ol' kitty and -quirky- humour. When the papermill downsized me in '01 (followed by the mill's ultimate closure in '05), I moved to Steinbach for employment. Not the underwater firefighter I listed but I made'ja look, a decent job nevertheless. Been with POF for a while- I almost never initiate because I wouldn't want to commute daily from Winnipeg nor would it be fair for another. The last relationship via POF over a year ago started slowly - email, dates, friendship building into the trust of physical intimacy,...I was willing to accept her early assertion her knee(s) damage would improve, then learned of other semi-serious past and future surgeries (less than couth to elaborate) that gave me pause, but the last straw was finding I was getting bedbug bites over there. It could happen to anyone anywhere in the city but I was paranoid about bringing 'them' home and felt embarrassed should anyone notice at work.
Other points. Interests, 'classic rock' (at home mostly CBC, in the car, CBC, BOB and FAB) though I'm all over the place - except country. My album collecting began with the first Boston, Heart and Foreigner and my CD's have grown over the years, 10CC to ZZTop, but almost never played that loud. 'Nostalgia', I spent many hours in my gramp's basement poring over Popular Science and Mechanics from the 30's-50's. Nostalgia in general but lately I've been dabbling in old TV, reading old comics (and newer books) on my 'droid ereader. 'Sci Fi' : Dr Who, B5, Sliders, etc. and Brit comedy though I'll go to any kind of show though not keen on doctors, cops and reality shows. I -just- have to avoid the movies in my thick book called 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die; that way I'll live forever, . Been to live theatre as well, which one depending as much on the companion as the playbill. 'Body Type, big and tall', basically what it says. I'll not say I'm average anymore, but the only 'spare tire' is in the back of the car. My choice; I don't judge others except when their life affects mine and even then I weigh any potential comments before voicing my opinion. And those who have in their ads: camping, the last two times I froze my -donkey- off overnight; fishing, no problem with meat but I have hypocritical issues with killing critters; quadding, never been and snomobiles, on one once and only so they could jerk the throttle to buck me off. And I'm not into watching pro sports, wrestling once in a blue moon, participating in an activity's better but I'd rather something where I don't feel responsible for a team's win/loss, yes, grade school baggage.
Finally, the ISO's, a woman with good humor, generally healthy (care2dance? -no chance I'll be on TV but willing), compatible interests enough that either doesn't seek to change the other beyond reasonable accomodations, hugs'n'kisses, as far as anything more, I won't sleep with someone I'm not waking up to...a friend who doesn't treat me like a brother or a banker. I don't mind helping but, yotz, we've all felt used one time or another.

First Date
Conversation over coffee or tea, iced is great, is one option. Whatever's comfortable.
