About Me
Laid back, independent, single guy living in downtown Calgary. Former mountain town type and with hopes to return to that some day... Been here and there, saw this and that, did a few things... Certainly has been an interesting ride...
As a rule, open-mindedness and taking people as individuals, at face value, are traits worth working towards. Judging others is something to be avoided and looking for the same. While one can get an idea of what a person does by their hobbies, passions, jobs etc., nothing is a substitute for spending time, getting to know another.
When not working and taking care of life's choirs, I like to get outside. Frankly, being indoors too long (like more than 3 hours) makes me jittery. Strange but true. In summer, its cycling, hiking/scrambling and finding back roads campsites. In the winter, snowboarding and traveling in the mountains fills the time on Sundays.
As far as culture, I do not have as much time for reading as I once did but I still try to knock down a book a month, anything from William Gibson to the Robertson Davies to anything in general that may be useful to learn. Musically, broad-minded; listening to anything from jazz (Miles Davis), electro(Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT), indie(Wire, the Get Up Kids, The Weakerthans), soul/funk(Otis Redding, James Brown), hip hop(Aesop Rock, Murs, Gang Starr) and on and on. I enjoy more indie style movies and tracking down documentaries. Have a small pension for ski/snowboard flicks (especially TGR and Absinthe). Admittedly, my hands are made of stone and even though the effort has been made, I believe its best if I am an admirer and supporter of the fine arts rather than a participant.
The FAQ:
1/ Yes, it's true; I do not own a car. My bike(s) is the main form of transportation everyday of the year warmer than -15c. It is not because I cannot afford one. Nor am I trying to change the world or think one less car will save the environment. However, aside from all the good reasons to ride a bike (saving money, exercise etc.), I do it because its a challenge. If not owning a car is that big of an issue, oh well.
2/Dates and snowboarding don't mix. On the other hand, if you can keep up, we may just get along.
3/I've been to the top of Sulpher Mtn. More times than I can remember. Not once was the gondola used.
4/Skinny? Yes, but I prefer "wirey" ;-)

First Date
Definitely not interested in overt shows of wealth, either for the giving or taking. A coffee, pint, walk in the hills, pedal down the pathway, round of disc golf...
