About Me
Happiness comes not from outside oneself, but from within. Freedom is the ability to express oneself, regardless of who is listening or what they may say about it. Love is not just to desire virtue within yourself, but to also desire virtue in others, for a person can only truly love virtue. Virtue derives from positive qualities and relationships. Negativity in one's life and relationships is simply a cancer.
Without these three things, you will never find what you are looking for.
I study philosophy, history, economics, politics, and a variety of other intellectual areas. There are a lot of definitions of what philosophy is, and much confusion. At a basic level, philosophy is the study of and ability to solve social and personal problems using logic, reason and the scientific method to determine truth from falsehood. It is applicable in everyone's daily life. Everyone is born with a natural desire to live with virtue, and philosophic ideas ingrained as a fundamental part of our nature. There are many negative influences which may distort our ability to live with virtue, but it is inherent in each of us.
I seek someone who is open to the exploration of ideas. A woman who will ask themselves a simple question: "How do I know?" when they say something, and likewise is willing to ask someone: "How do you know?" when someone makes a statement which they don't support with evidence. The first step to wisdom is to realize you may not know, so that you may learn. It is far better to know you don't know something, than to falsely believe that you do.
I do believe all problems can be solved with communication, rather than fighting or arguments. Communication implies a two-way street, where each listens to the other without assumptions or jumping to conclusions. Communication breaks down when one person refuses to listen to the other, and the resulting discussion devolves to nothing more than two televisions shouting at each other.
At the end of the day I am looking for someone who would like to settle down, and have the traditional family life in perhaps a non-traditional way.
