About Me
“It’s already been sung, but it can’t be said enough: all you need is love.” -- Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.
I’m a born and bred New Yorker, but I recently moved to the twin cities of Bloomington-Normal to pursue my Master’s degree at Illinois State University. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to find here what eluded me back in New York: true love and that special someone. While I love New York City, there’s too much game-playing and superficiality when it comes to relationships, which makes it difficult to establish a meaningful connection with someone. But during my short time in Central Illinois, I’ve found that people here are much more friendly, easy-going, and down-to-earth. These are some of the most important qualities that I’m looking for in a potential match, so I have much higher hopes of finding that special person here than I ever did back in NYC.
Now let me tell you a little bit about the kind of person I am: I’m genuine, warm-hearted, caring, thoughtful, and down-to-earth. I don’t play games with relationships or pretend to be someone I’m not. I believe that honesty and straightforward communication are the biggest keys to a healthy relationship; therefore, I try to be as open and up front as I can with all my thoughts and feelings. Also, I’m a very friendly and easy-going person with a well developed sense of humor. I can be quite sarcastic at times, but always in a friendly and good-natured way. Sometimes when I feel like it, I can also act very goofy or silly too. In general, people find that I’m easy to talk to and just as easy to get along with. I’m always looking out for ways to make my sweetheart happy and to brighten up her day a little bit, whether it be a surprise bouquet of flowers or a long back massage. Although it’s been said before, it really is the little things that matter most in a relationship.
I like to have a little fun as well whenever time permits. Two of my absolute favorite things to do are going to baseball games and seeing live rock concerts. Being from New York, I’m a huge Yankees fan, but don’t worry; I’m open to dating Cubs, White Sox, or Cardinals fans too! :) Some of my favorite bands/artists include Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, and Toad the Wet Sprocket (if you like Toad, you’ve already scored points in my book!) I also enjoy going out to restaurants, movies, and comedy clubs, going bowling or shooting some pool, and hanging out with my small, furry friend: an adorable little Bichon Frise. So far I haven’t had an opportunity yet to develop much of a leisure life here in Bloomington-Normal, but hopefully I can find a wonderful girl to introduce me to the fantastic sights and sounds that Central Illinois has to offer.
Now I know the special person I’m looking for is out there somewhere. I don’t know her name yet or what she looks like, but there are some things I do know about her already. I know that she is sweet and caring, and that she derives happiness from the happiness of those around her. I know that she has a great sense of humor, that she loves to laugh and to make other people laugh as well. I know that she is genuine and down-to-earth; she is always honest and sincere about her feelings, and does not play games with relationships. Last but certainly not least, I know that she is open and receptive to exploring the potential for a meaningful and fulfilling relationship; one that is based on mutual caring, trust, respect, and affection.
So if you possess any of these qualities, and are looking for someone special to treat you well and make you happy, I invite you to help realize this potential by responding to my profile. After all, if there ever was a better match than a small town girl and a big city guy (with a small town heart), I haven’t heard of it. As the immortal Billy Joel so keenly wrote, “You know that when the truth is told, you can get what you want or you can just get old…” I want someone to love and care for, who will love and care for me in return. When the truth is told, and all is said and done, will that someone be you?
