About Me
So, I've recently found someone and things seem to be progressing well. So, I'll leave this here as another way to make contact with people to harass and hang with and nothing more.
It's been brought to my attention that despite several things being displayed very clearly in my generic information above, not everyone is seeing it. Obviously just not reading. Also, I feel I haven't directly offended enough people. I expect that if they ignored above, same thing here, but at least for those who do bother to read, you'll know what you're getting into as fully as I can relate it.
So, why am I here? That one's easy. Ideally, I'm looking for a long-term relationship with a very special woman. This is just one of the ways I'm trying to find her. I keep my options open. Websites, friends of friends, strangers on the street, or in the convenience store, or whatever. Now while this is the ideal situation, I know it's not just going to fall into my lap. It needs to be worked at, and built. In the mean time, I still intend to enjoy myself. Catch some dates with girls who catch my attention get out and do things. I don't need a woman to make me happy, but I'd love to find a woman I can be happy with.
Now I specify long-term relationship as my ideal goal. That being said, I'm not looking at marriage. Ever. I don't believe in it. I will not have any part of it. No vow, ceremony, or piece of paper makes the will of two people to stay together any stronger. It's a matter of conviction, compatibility, happiness together, and various other factors. Also, while we're on lifetime commitments here, I also do not want kids. I know, you're thinking "All men say that, he'll want kids/to get married at some point or I can persuade him to change his mind!" On the former issue, no, you will not. On the latter issue, I do not see myself changing my mind. I'm not going to say no, but as it stands, I don't ever intend to father children. So if being a wife and/or a mom is something you NEED to do in your life, I suggest you move on.
Carrying on from the marriage thing, I do not do religion. I will not come with you to your church, temple, synagogue, mosque, or where ever it is you go to worship, or be involved with any activities where worship or religious experience is the point. I am not saying I will not be with someone who has faith. I just do not wish to be part of it.
Now, with these things posted here, you probably see me as some enormous jerk who has anger issues, is completely closed minded, does not understand , but this is very much not the case. Just as you have things in your life that are non-negotiable, or very important to you, these are mine. While I may not wish to take part in your religion, I'll probably be interested in learning about it. While I will never get married, I'll go with you to the weddings of your friends and families. And while I do not want my own children, that doesn't mean I'll never want any around me, or necessarily begrudge you for having your own. I'm presenting this so forwardly because I want it understood. I don't want you feeling like certain things are coming, or an option that for me just aren't. Now that that's done, let's move on to what you want to know.
I'm not where I want to be in my life. But that's okay, for now. Because I'll get there. I have the knowledge, the intelligence, drive and ability to get far. And I intend to do that. So while I may have hit a snag on my way, it's not a stopping point.
I have three cats. I love them. Even when they're doing something that irritates the ever loving crap out of me. I like animals in general. I would like to have a dog, but my place is too small. And most little dogs, I would never want to have as a pet. About as small as it gets for me is a beagle. I would like to have a ferret or two one day, though.
I have an interest, both academic and sort of as a hobby, in languages. Growing up, I was learning French quite well off the backs of cereal boxes. Went into kindergarten knowing more French than I did coming out of grade nine. In recent years, I've been trying to pick it up again, along with Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese. I am not likely to stop there, either.
The hobby that I'm most devoted to is gaming. Mostly video games. My X-Box 360 sees the most use, but I love my Wii as well. And I'd be lost sometimes without my DS and, to a lesser extent, PSP. I also partake in role-playing games(Like Dungeons & Dragons and Shadowrun), Magic: The Gathering, and various board games. Board games aren't limited to the popular ones like Monopoly, Risk and the like. But some thematic and obscure ones like Twilight Imperium, Carcassone, and the Battlestar Galactica board game.
I also spend a fair bit of time reading. Mostly fiction. The book I'm currently working on is "The Book of Atrus", a prequel to the game Myst. Before that, I was reading "Into the Wild". The book series that I'm most invested in right now is George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is a close second, but I've not finished book 11 yet, and have yet to pick up the last one. I'm really worried the last one is going to feel rushed. I've asked everyone I know who's read it to tell me NOTHING of it. At all. Beyond satisfactory or not.
Musically, I'm all over the board. Nine Inch Nails, Moby, The Offspring, Assemblage 23, Modest Mouse, Dead Can Dance.... About the only musics I don't tend to like are the stereotypical black musics(rap, R&B, Hip Hop, etc) and country. There are of course exceptions. But they're few and far between.
Something that has made up a large part of my life for about 18 years now is martial arts. My cousin has trained me since I was seven. My cousin now works for the government training operatives in hand-to-hand so my backing is pretty strong. He never taught me in any specific art to an extent that I could go to a school of that particular style and keep up using exclusively that style. He taught me more in a practical combat sense. In the end, the styles that took pre-dominance are Escrima, and Krav Maga. Though there are plenty more embedded in my way of fighting. I don't have as much chance to practice as I'd like anymore, but I'm glad I don't actually have to use it in combat to the same extent I did growing up.
At this point, I'm out of things to really say about me. I know what you're thinking: "About time." Or, maybe you're actually interested if you read this whole way through. So, don't be shy to message me. You'll hear back. Failing that, if I noticed you stalked me, and I can think of something to message you with, you'll hear from me anyway most likely.
