About Me
I aspire to be a professional larrikin, but I am also in the process of becoming an Informatiological Technoperson and am learning to become one at a public vocational college near you.
I love photography, writing, and amateur theatre. I also have an English degree. (I've survived first-year university science and calculus too, so I've also learned a little bit about how to learn things.) I definitely want to see the rest of the world - I've lived in Poland, Ukraine, and Japan, but that adds up to just a small slice of the sphere. I will also continue to learn French off-and-on as long as I keep getting second-language bursaries. Yes, I should have started years ago, but it's never too late to begin.
I am a genuinely nice guy, though I aspire not to be a Nice Guy™. I appreciate symmetry and reciprocity in relationships (this is true above all else!). This can be hard to achieve, though, since I'm the best in the world at absolutely everything except being modest and knowing when it's funny to try to be funny. (Wow, I'm on a self-absorbed roll - did I mention yet that I'm also the World's Greatest Listener™?)
In all candor, I have feelings and seek someone who also has feelings. I struggle mightily to find something unique to say sometimes - if I have messaged you, there's a good reason, though I may not have expressed it very well in the actual message. I hope that is not lost in the sea of my snark.
I have a peculiar sense of humour - some folks keel over, and others... well, if the old "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" joke makes you laugh, then we're golden. I can talk about a wide variety of things, but I also ship with a "mute" button.
My favourite artists/groups include They Might Be Giants, The Smiths, Simon and Garfunkel, Arrogant Worms, The Who, Sloan, The Alan Parsons Project, Men Without Hats, George Harrison, Sarah McLachlan, R.E.M., Sigur Rós, The Cure, Frank Zappa, Devo, and there's probably more.

First Date
A lot of people here are writing coffee or a few pints at a bar. That's about where my head's at, too. First dates need to be kept low-stakes.
Sometimes it can be fun to visit an art gallery or a museum, but these might be better second date activities as they are potentially too distracting for a first.
