About Me
I’m not now nor have I ever been a bar star, smoker, toker or availed myself of any other pharmacopeia (unless it’s been legitimately prescribed..) Having long since dispelled youthful notions of immortality, I tend towards less injurious pursuits (unless dared - a potentially fatal flaw …) and movie viewing is the only Xtreme activity I’ll engage in is (seriously, have you ever sat through a 16 hour marathon?)
So what am I looking for? Inner peace, global harmony and knowing the meaning of life would be nice, but next week’s lottery numbers couldn’t hurt either (it’s much easier being introspective when you can give it your undivided attention). When it comes to a partner I admit I have a set of outrageously demanding criteria:
a) Must be gainfully employed (definitions are open for discussion)
b) Is financially solvent i.e. not on the verge of bankruptcy owing to Manolos or outstanding bar tabs
c) Likes to travel and can handle the gamut of accommodations from hostels to Hyatts
d) Doesn’t feel the need to out party the twenty-somethings you know.
e) Have a somewhat warped sense of humour (or at least appreciate mine) and will generally laugh with me and not at me
f) Knows the difference between your and you’re and there, their and they’re
g) Takes care of herself i.e. does not smoke, gives McD’s and BK a wide berth and gets to the gym/dojo/yoga studio with some regularity
h) Values spending quality time with both their friends and partner (not necessarily at the same time).
i) As I am not psychic I need someone who is capable of clear and honest communication i.e. needs, desires, feelings, etc. Seriously, I can not stress this point enough.
If you’re still reading, you’re probably asking, “So what’s so special about you Mr. Demandy?" I'm tallish, animals don’t flee in terror at the sight of me and I can carry on a conversation on a wide range of subjects. I am also an avid listener and can't lie to save my life, so won’t waster either of our time trying. I make it to the gym several times a week so I can honestly state that I’m borderline fit.
I accept that work is a means to an end: my flexible schedule has allowed me to explore the world at large - as of last count I'm up to 22 countries and always looking to add a few more. I’m not much for camping as I feel after all my years of work the one thing I deserve is a comfy bed. Though I've conquered my Buffy addiction, I still have film monkey on my back, but it’s one of the expected risks when you’re a free-lance film reviewer... I’m the one you’ll hear laughing out loud in the theatre or reading the comics, and know when to have fun and when to be serious.
I believe there is a distinct difference between acquaintances and friends, value loyalty and my word is my bond. I’m tactile, passionate, like giving massages, not afraid of PDA's (either electronic or physical) and know when to be

I’ve reached the point in life where kids are not in the cards, I am allergic to cats (which, in retrospect, explains why I was a sneezing, stuffed up mess for the 4 years that I had one...), despise Brussel sprouts and can’t tolerate intolerance. Most importantly I’ve learned to never say “never” (well, except as an example).
