About Me
I am happy, independent, basically fearless, although paradoxically it does not prevent me from being shy. Actually have a brain, though sometimes you would not tell. Seeking an active, outdoorsy intellectual who does not want to marry right away. I know, that's too much to ask.

In other words, I am looking for a guy who does not need pleading and cajoling to lift his rear side off the couch, does not mind a few mosquitoes and/or a little snow under his collar (I'll settle for one or the other) and can maintain a conversation on a subject more abstract than what he had for dinner last night. And if you can beat me at a nettle fight or walk barefoot where I can't, you've absolutely won my heart

I find myself drawn to men who have some sort of a passion, some fire in their belly, and are bigger than me in one way or another, so that I can look up to them and learn something. It can be physical or intellectual, indoor or outdoor.. if you can teach me something, I am game.

Many of my interests are just that: things I enjoy doing, not things I excel at.. far from that. I climb at a humble 5-7+ and don't even belay; I do windsurf, but more often than not, swim back with rope in my teeth or wait to be rescued :-) Dived and flied with instructors and/or friends (they said I was a natural, but what else would they say?) I do swim for hours at a time, but it's more like a crawl.. (teachers much appreciated). OK, I am a decent x-countrier, like most people coming from my latitude, where 5 months out of a year we had the luxury of skiing right off our front porch and into the forest. (Ahhh, how I miss that!) For the most part though, I am just a curious amateur with broad interests and a lot of wishful thinking. Don't worry that you might be behind, you probably are not.

I am not a polar bear by our standards, do need a wet suit if it's under 50, but that might change. Used to live right on the beach, in a tiny one-bedroom, swim off my own bulkhead at night, and loved every minute of it. Will do it again some day. Swimming in cold water, on sunset, is something one has to experience: Fire, Earth, Air and Water, and sometimes maybe even a bit of civilization faaaaaaar behind, waiting from the beginning of time to be one, and becoming one through you, the missing link.. it energizes me so much I can't be cold for a month afterward. Yeah, I know, you are a guy, here I am losing your attention right there.

My migration path has been Moscow - Tel-Aviv - Seattle, with a few twists and turns in between. It might not end here, but for now, I LOVE the Northwest. The rain suits me well. A water sign, what can I say.

I can be very intuitive. When I was a child, I had a sense of orientation, like an animal, a built-in compass, never understood how people can get lost or hungry in the forest. It's gone now, but I still enjoy hiking or driving around unfamiliar places with no map, a compass or two maybe. Usually get where I want to anyway ;-)

One last thing. I have a major case of self-diagnosed ODHD (Online Deficit & Hyperactivity Disorder). That means that, unless we went through the mandatory coffee thing, we may be the best match ever, I may be totally fascinated and mesmerized by you, and I might still disappear in the middle of a conversation like Cheshire cat. Nothing personal, just Real Life pulling me out of the online world, and then slowly easing me back into the ocean, days, months, or, sometimes, years later. When this happens, please be forgiving and say hi again. Or better yet, if there is mutual interest, let's take it to the Real Life some time soon; after all, that's how people used to do it, and we are a living proof it worked! I'll do my best to stay put this time and not leave you hanging, but.. I mean, it's Seattle! Until we've met, I simply can't let online dating be my top priority in life.

I tend to only respond to emails. Not the "would like to meet you" or favorites. That's because people who write are much more likely to have read my profile. Which.. commends respect.

Update: OK, reality wins. One of those days I'll get to update my pics. Gained a few pounds within a couple of months, what the heck?? I am now size 8, a.k.a. medium. Still not the end of the world, I am very comfortable with my body, but if you are looking for a model, keep looking. If you are looking for a workout buddy, I might be game!

Anyway, if you've read this far, and my hat goes off to you for that, wow, you are my kind of a man. Congratulations on your attention span! Do stop by and say hi.

First Date
Coffee, and sooner rather than later. Why build expectations? Or be the first to invite me to the climbing wall at REI - can't see myself saying "no" to that!
