Trying to write a catchy profile that will attract the right person is difficult. On the one hand, you want to give the reader an idea of what you are like. On the other hand, you don't want to tell every detail about yourself to every person visiting this website.
The cliches are just that, cliches. Of course we all like long walks on the beach and fine dining. But I would rather stand outside in the dark, and it's quite dark at night where I live, and listen to the peepers in the wetlands across the street, or look up at the stars. As for fine dining, does anyone actually prefer terrible food? I do tend to be a bit of a prole, and am quite happy with a slice of veggie from Regina's.
OK here's some more about me: Music, see below. Movies, I have eclectic tastes. I also have Netflix so I usually wait for a few months before seeing something new unless it's something I really want to see right away (Harry Potter fell into that category). I do like going to the movies but have been disappointed too often when the hype does not match up to the actuality. Books, I am currently re-reading Robert Parker's books in chronological order. Thank goodness for interlibrary loans. Politics, a bit left of center. I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate, if that tells you anything.
Looking at other profiles I have noticed that right about now people write some incredibly profound things regarding how they see themselves as part of the infinite cosmos, Waxing philosophical. I always liked that quote from Rocky Horror, "Don't dream it, be it."
My real name is not Wendy, that's just my user name. Ask me what it means.
I have two cats. I like dogs but do not currently have one. (Can one really "have" a dog or cat? I've always said that a cat is a little wild animal that lives in your house, and you hope it does not rip your throat out while you sleep.) I would hope anyone I connected with would like pets.
I've traveled a lot within the US and also in the Caribbean. My kids live in El Paso and Atlanta, so those are currently my destinations of choice. I would love to go to China someday and visit the Forbidden City. I've lived in Massachusetts all my life, first in the Boston area and then in the Merrimack Valley since 1983. One thing I miss about Boston is the restaurants and the availablity of live music. My favorite kinds of music are Celtic and Reggae. I also enjoy karaoke.
And now some thoughts:
Robert Heinlein wrote: A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Here's a quiz. Who said: "You must have faith that the universe will unfold as it should."
