About Me
It's always weird writing about yourself, but here goes: My name is Gabe, and I think I'm officially a San Diegan now. I can't stay away from the ocean. I spend a lot of my time surfing,swimming, racing outrigger canoes, and occasionally a little lobster diving or SCUBA. I also like going hiking,fishing,throwing the frisbee around or playing a round of disc golf at Morley field. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved down to SD for school and made myself at home.
I'd like to meet a girl who is adventurous. I want to meet someone who I'm friends with and we can go to the beach,bay and parks. Find cool art exhibits, and check out movies, the zoo, new restaurants, pubs, and anything else exciting. If you like to cook great, I do to. If not, you better like to eat. Food is one of those things that brings people together, without good food, there would be little else to live for.![]("smiles/icon_017.gif")
I like hanging around in bookstores, drinking strong coffee, and listening to music, and dreaming of traveling to places beyond my financial means and amount of constantly dwindling vacation time. I like to read non-fiction mostly travel, science, medicine, etc. But as far as fiction goes: Christopher Moore, Walter Mosley, Vonnegut, Luis Alberto Urrea and more.
Musically I listen a to a mix of reggae, hiphop, rock, dub, classic rock, bjork (she gets her own category), jawaiian, and anything else "good".
Now on to another favorite, food & drink. I like most food..and most drink...wow, I'm really descriptive. I like to eat mexican food, burritos, pho, Indian, sushi, Italian, Cuban sandwiches, Dim Sum (give me dim sum now!), Korean bbq. I like my food adventurous and spicy. I often begin pondering what I will eat for lunch first thing after getting in to work. Beer...mmmmm....& Wine...MMMmmm. I like beer, good beer for taste light beer for distance. My favorite spot to hang out is Cass St. Bar & Grill. Great food, a good beer selection, pool & shuffleboard, need I say more.![]("smiles/icon_135.gif")
Not to say I wouldn't go back in a heartbeat to most, but some places I've crossed of the list are: Canada,Mexico, Alaska, Brazil, Africa, Hawaii
I like going to Baja for a quick escape. With good people, great food, epic surf, and the scenery of the desert meeting the Pacific how could you go wrong.
I work at UCSD doing brain research with patients with Parkinson's Disease. I can honestly say I like my job. I get to do a wide array of things, and want to stay close to the medical and research fields. I want to go back to school soon and am trying to narrow things down a bit.
TV: as much as I proclaim to loathe TV, I watch a fair amount of it. cheesy 80's movies, law & order, the first 48, Saved, scrubs, ER, discovery channel, MXE, South Park, Daily Show, history channel, etc.
Well, I think I've gone on enough, hit me up. Feel free to ask me a question or tell me a crazy story, like the last place you traveled to that "blew your mind".

First Date
Original date ideas are rough. I'm a fan of dinner, but not the whole movie thing, let's interact a little. I'm a fan of a bike ride by the beach, a cup of coffee, dinner, maybe some live music if it's not super-loud. An art show would be cool. I dig on museums, 'cause you can walk around and people watch and point at cool stuff.
