About Me
Updated 2009-07-12:
Summer's here and I've now relocated to Nepean, Ontario. I'm enjoying the challenge of the new job, and love my new home. Hunter loves it too (he's such a 'lil trooper)! We've been to Bruce Pit several times, which is an off leash wilderness dog park, and it's like doggie heaven. Lots of dogs roaming and romping around, and a great excuse for me to get some exercise in.
I'm hoping to meet someone who is looking to improve their health and happiness by being active. Walks, bowling, par 3 golf (or driving range), riding bikes (as in bicycles), etc. My goal is to improve my health and fitness level significantly and I would really enjoy the company of a like-minded man, who can laugh and enjoy life along the way.
Albert Einstein explains relativity:
When you are courting a nice man/woman, an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder, a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.
I'm usually a very happy person, who loves life and cherishes family and friends (the four legged variety too... not cats -- dogs - the four legged variety only please). However, I do appreciate the furriness of both the two and four legged variety.
I am a smoker with angst
-- I want to quit, but I won't quit because someone else wants me too (yeah, I know... makes little or no sense, but a fellow smoker would understand I'm sure). ~winks~
My idea of fun is being around folks, laughing and talking, enjoying good music or entertainment. I enjoy riding my bike and would love to find a riding partner.
I LOVE dancing, singing and watching thunder/lightening storms. I HATE bugs, so I'm not the camping type (unless it's a 4 ****star**** hotel). I do enjoy hiking, so long as there's creature comforts at the end of the hike (flush toilets).
One of my absolute favourite weaknesses (oh yes, don't we have our fair share of those huh?) would have to be MILK CHOCOLATE !! I love every kind of milk chocolate, not the white stuff, not the dark stuff, and no other additives. Just plain ole milk chocolate (I'm feeling feverish right now just typing about it...oh my)!
I love to laugh, and am quite capable of laughing at my own, and other's, foibles. If you're too sensitive about that, you probably won't want to contact me. I am hardly ever serious, unless the situation calls for it.
I enjoy movies, ideally seen on a huge screen in a theatre (with DOLBY digital sound -- how many times have you seen that ad huh?
). A few of my favourites would have to be: Shawkshank Redemption -- Braveheart -- Independence Day -- Moonstruck -- The Mission -- A Beautiful Mind -- Poltergeist -- The Abyss and Calamity Jane!
I love music, all kinds -- would be impossible to list my faves, there's too many! Easier to list what I don't love in the music world: anything that makes my ears bleed or gives me a "Midol wouldn't even take this away" headache. I do have to say though that Tracy Chapman is an incredible song writer and singer -- check out The Promise !
I'm a very affectionate person, but I really struggle with folks knowing that there is a preferred time and place to demonstrate deeply personal signs of affection (ie. sticking one's tongue down another's throat in a public place is a major turnoff
, but hand holding or hugging is endearing and encouraged
).
If you're the type of person who can appreciate a confident person, who feels free to voice their thoughts or views (without diminishing others), than it's a good possibility we'll get along famously. Otherwise, save yourself the keystrokes ! ~winkers~
WHAT I LOOK FOR:
*** Comedy *** Compassion *** Confidence *** Communication ***
Comedy: Someone who can laugh easily, and make me laugh. Someone who will laugh with me. I love to laugh, and prefer to be around others that do too! Life is so short, why not make it as enjoyable as possible, while you can ? I'm a great fan of Monty Python !! Infact, my absolute favourite routine would have to be the "Dead Parrot" routine.
See, it cracks me up just thinking about it !
Compassion: Someone who takes no joy in the misfortune of others, but rather extends themselves, in their journey through life, by helping others with kindness and humility. Someone who knows that patience is a good thing. Someone who appreciates that external beauty is not timeless, and that internal beauty sustains.
Confidence: Someone who has a real sense of who they are, and has a keen awareness of the world around them. Someone who can knowledgeably discuss anything from current local and world news, to who their favourite Muppet was (see Comedy above). Someone who carries themselves well by interacting with folks easily. Someone who always wants to understand others, or learn more in life.
Communication: Someone who can fully express themselves, and who's willing to talk about anything and everything. Someone who recognizes that sometimes communication is non-verbal, and understands those signs. Someone who's not shy to express themselves, within the context of being a healthy-minded individual and in a relationship that is based on mutual respect, trust and love. Someone who really actively listens with their ears and eyes...and heart.
And lastly, for those of you that hate to type, or can't find the words, or don't know what to say, and want to meet immediately, let me just set your mind at ease about that right here for you.
Chances are very good I will not meet you under the following circumstances.
If:
1) You don't wish to tell me more about yourself than a simple "Hi, wanna meet for coffee" message -- besides, I don't drink coffee;
2) You don't converse with a give and take (I ask questions, you answer, you ask questions, I answer) conversationality;
3) You don't provide or have a recent photo; and
4) I'm not completely sure that you're not messaging me from a jail cell someplace, where you're doing time because the judge felt that backing up over your ex with the piece of junk car you were left with after a somewhat bitter divorce, actually constituted 'intent'! (See Comedy above).

First Date
I prefer to call it 'folks meeting to build a friendship'. Someplace public where any awkward silences are brief because we're either having fun doing something together or being entertained.
