OK, so here we go....some info about me.
I am one of those "nice guys" that ALL the women say they want to meet
, but for whatever reason I can't seem to meet a special woman that is serious about that statement.
One of the qualities I value most in people, is their compassion towards others. Their willingness to get involved and do what is right and what needs to be done. to go out of their way and sometimes out of their comfort zone and make a positive impact into others lives.
That is probably why i have ended up in the line of work that i do. (I'm a geek !) I am the Executive Director of a technology based non profit org : www.HawaiianHope.org What do i do ? I help people change their lives. I work with the homeless daily in supporting over 4,000 people. We work with multiple other non profit orgs and provide technology services to them. We give away free computer systems to kids, individuals, families, the homeless and other non profits, and so far we have given away over 800 free computers. (yes, eight hundred) And that is just the start of what we do.
I like helping people. And I like people, that like to help people.
Yes i am single. Never married and no kids. I was really close to getting married once, we were together 7 years and engaged.. but can you believe that she was so COLD that she MAILED the ring back to break up with me to go out with one of my best friends ?!! Its OK, we never would have worked out anyway. She ... did NOT like to help people. In fact she was very self centered and would scold me when i went to help others. It took me a LONG time (after the breakup) to realize that. So no, we would never have worked out.
Yes, I have been using his site a while. So, why am i still single ? The short story is, for a LONG time (after the ring incident) I wasn't really looking. Even though i posted a profile, and thought i was looking... i finally realized one day that no, i really was not. So for almost 4 years while i had a profile on this site, i think i logged in maybe 3 times.
Now...2011 ? Yes, I am looking.
After using this site for so long, Now I understand why so many women never bother to post their photos. Photos do not tell the quality and depth of your heart and soul. Prejudice is about more than just skin color. Its about making decisions without all of the facts. OK, I can admit it, maybe I am just not GQ enough (a blind date actually told me that once.) Of course there has to be SOME attraction, but I find it so important to AT LEAST investigate the quality of a persons personality before you think they are not good enough for you.
Should I take my photos off too ?
my photos alone will NOT tell you that I love gardening, dancing, cooking, remodeling, helping the homeless, God, my mother and humanity in general.
my photos will NOT tell you that I am the executive director of a technology based non profit org (I'm a geek), that I work with the homeless daily in supporting over 9,000 people, or that I work with multiple other non profit orgs and provide technology services to them.
my photos will NOT tell you that I have one of the most diverse tastes in music. I LOVE to dance to Tribal-House, Techno, House, and a variety of other music. On my Play List ? House, Classical, Korn, Metallica, Johnny Cash (but NO other country) and Spanish acoustic guitar, back to house !
my photos will NOT tell you that I have taught over 5,000 children in a classroom, that my neighbors trust me enough to ask me to baby sit their 3 kids, that I saved 3 families from bankruptcy, started and ran a successful business or that I saved the lives of more than a dozen people.
my photos will NOT tell you that I have a few quirks: I hate looking out a dirty window and therefore am often cleaning them, and that I think people who leave the shopping carts scattered in the parking lot are some of the laziest people on the planet, and I make it a point to put my (and their) carts back, sometimes exaggerating the point of how lazy they are.
my photos will NOT tell you that I can write software in 8 computer languages, or that I am learning multiple human languages including Japanese, French, German, and American Sign Language, or that I used to be a distance runner, snowboard and ski instructor, and a break dancer.
my photos will NOT tell you that I am completely faithful in a relationship, that I have never cheated on anyone, that I look forward to pleasing my lady with candles, dinners and great back rubs, and that I enjoy holding hands.
I am looking to meet some people to hang out with, talk story, learn from and develop friendships and relationships with. But somewhere out there is one woman with (long?) dark hair that will look past the first 10 seconds of who I am. I will never need to explain why I am the way I am. She will be willing and wanting to learn and experience it all first hand.
Also, for whatever reason, I am drawn to Asian women. Ever since I was a child. I remember being like 9 years old and watching Zoom on PBS and thinking the Asian girl on the show was just the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my life. (even more than my dirt bike) hehehe. I still remember that silly butterfly arm trick she used to do.

First time we meet would probably be at a mall, someplace with plenty of people around so she feels comfortable and has the opportunity to see that i am not some twisted wreck of a human.
