About Me
I recognize that trying to meet someone on an online dating service is weird and uncomfortable, but I've also come to terms that it's rare that people meet eachother organically or without heavy amounts of alcohol. In an effort to make it as easy as possible to get to know me through a profile page I've decided to be as honest and real as I possibly can be. That being said I don't want to make it too easy, I'd like to know that you're putting in some effort to get to know me. Here are just a few things to get you started.
I'm a third year history student at uvic. I read a lot and am kind of a nerd, but it works for me. I have no idea what I want to do with my degree, but getting it is a a goal of mine so I figure I'll work out the details later. I work at a senior's home part time and I love it! The residents are amazing and it's really great to have a job that I care about.
I grew up on this awesome island, and love it here. Its great to live in a place that has so much wildlife and exciting places to visit. I love to go camping, swimming, hiking and biking. In the winter I ski, even though I suck at it. I've recently been getting into yoga and loving it. I'd love to meet someone who is open to new adventures and doesn't mind looking like a fool while trying new things.
Music is a big part of my life. I love the classics like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Eagles and Johnny Cash (Boy Named Sue might just be my favourite song), but also really enjoy discovering new stuff. I'm currently loving Florence and the Machine, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, Adele, Mother Mother, Stars, Cold War Kids and the Decmberists. I make the best road trip mixes ever!
I love movies. I'd say my favourites would be American Beauty and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But I'm also a big fan of ridiculous humour and think that Zoolander and Night at the Roxbury are just awesome. I love to laugh. I've been told that mine is amazing and have been dragged to funny movies by friends because my laugh has an infectious quality. I don't have TV, since I consider almost 90% of whats on a big waste of time, but I love quality shows like the Office, 30 Rock, Nurse Jackie, Californication, etc. And I am deeply mourning the loss of great shows like The Sopranos and Arrested Development.
I love to cook and entertain for my friends, who are very important to me. My friends have been the source of alot of the fun, love and laughter in my life.
In the end I'm looking for someone who I feel comfortable with and likes to keep the drama to an absolute minimum. I consider honesty and respect the best qualities in anyone. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you think I might be someone who interests you :)
