Describing myself is definitely not a hobby of mine. I suppose it's a cop out to try to leave it at that...
Let's see, hobbies: catching a ballgame (D.C. or Oriole Park in Baltimore); I enjoy skiing and taking in a concert, which is convenient since I live on U Street near the 9:30 Club (I prefer country but listen to a lot of different types of music).
I try to make a difference in my job: I work in government (let's just leave it at that for now).
I like to think I'm unique in my passion and hard work, intellect and ability to laugh at the dumbest things, and I'll throw in humble, which is both true and ironic in that this d*mn website just made me talk about myself in 300 words. :)

First Date
It would vary based on the person with whom I had the first date. I'd try to learn a little about her first when I call her to set up the date. I'd use the call to figure out what she likes (style, foods, etc) and match a plan for the date to the date. I've really been looking forward to checking out this place in Bethesda where they do cooking classes where you eat what you cook...
