About Me
I guess to start out with I should say that I'm not really sure why I'm here or what I'm hoping to accomplish by being here. I suppose ideally I end up riding off into the sunset with the woman I love or something to that effect. Is that the purpose here? See, there used to be a time when I could simplify it down to that one goal. Lately, though, I'm just not so sure of what it is I want or need.
A little about myself, in case you were wondering...
Um, I'm not sure where to start. Okay, here it goes, I'm an aspiring writer. That's remarkably easy to say, but so difficult to actually do. You know what I mean? I always feel like I need to be writing more. I have stories inside of my head that have kept me company for too many years now and instead of them just entertaining me I would like them to entertain others. Right now a lot of my writing resources are devoted to poetry, but I wouldn't call myself a poet by any stretch of the imagination.
Aside from that, I have eccentric taste in music. There is a lot of music I can listen to. I won't start rattling off the names of specific artists or bands because this list would get really long really fast. Suffice to say, though, the fact that Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Tool are listed in my interests for a reason. Certainly I could name a whole bunch more, but I'll keep it at that. If you want to know more about my favorite music just ask me.
I also have weird taste in movies sometimes. Talking about movies for me, though, is kind of tough because, yeah, I like a lot of standard blockbuster type movies, but I hold the more evocative, smaller scale releases a bit closer to my heart. I also indulge in artsy type flicks because some of them are just too cool for school. Yes, I just said that. Favorite movies of mine include Fight Club, The Road Warrior, and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. I get profoundly sad when I watch Watership Down.
Also, I am a hockey fan. It's a genetic thing from living in Edmonton and if you like to talk hockey I'm all ears.
I try to read lots of kooky books. Chuck Palahniuk is my favorite author, but I have a soft spot for members of the Beat Generation, Bret Easton Ellis books, and contemporary poetry. If you ever catch me reading Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close I will have tears in my eyes. I also cried a bit during parts of House Of Leaves and I can't figure out why.

First Date
I just want to talk, though I'm probably liable to put my foot in my mouth sometimes. If I do, please forgive me because the words coming out my wordhole don't always get put by the team of editors who reside inside my brain. Also, hot chocolate would be nice. Coffee, maybe? If you get me drunk, though, philosophical, jokey Michael shows up and no progress gets made in figuring out who I am. If you insist on buying me drinks keep it to a minimum and my buzz won't take over.
