A first date for me is the moment of truth. You either pass or fail. There are no second chances. I like to try to do something where we can get a chance to do a lot of talking.
I usually try for a nice dinner at a semi-casual restaurant. Somewhere like Hard Rock Cafe, Chili's, Olive Garden, etc. Something nice, but not over the top. It's usually better if it is in a somewhat trendy neighborhood. It allows for a nice walk after dinner.
After that, I like to hit something like a comedy club or bar that has live music. This, again, allows for a chance to see what she is like. If it is a comedy club, I get a chance to see if she has a good sense of humor. If it is a bar with a band, I get to see if she enjoys a variety in music and entertainment. If she gets bored at either, then we might not be a good match. In either case, I again get a chance to talk and get to know her better.
At the conclusion of the first date, I usually take it slow. It is easy to read the wrong signals and make a lethal mistake. It would, however, depend on the circumstances. I am a somewhat cautious man and want her to feel comfortable around me. Moving too fast can end a relationship too quickly.
Tune in next week for second date possibilities.
