ABOUT YOU: I'm looking for a friend and potential lover in anyone I date. While I'm actively dating I want to share at least 15 minutes of my life, each day, with an intelligent woman. Sometimes hanging out for hours on end together, most times just chatting for a brief period (online, or by phone, even.) I'm not looking for a mere 'muse.'
Age has no meaning to me, in love. I've fallen in love with women 15 years my junior as well as senior. Speaking of which, I'm old enough to expect a mature woman realizes what 'love' means to them personally, in concrete terms. To me it is synonymous with 'trust.' I am confident with a solid belief system to back me up and I expect the same in a woman I date. Someone who doesn't mind speaking truth to power.
I need to clarify something else - size has never mattered to me...As a matter of fact ethnicity, religion, smoking and all the rest of the filters I'd set to match mine went out the window as well. I think the ability to smile is more important for compatibility than anything else by far (that and the courage to post pics.) Having said that i'm obviously not going to be dating a chain smoking, super obese martian fundamentalist.
ABOUT ME: There's a song by Wassabi Collective that has a line in it as so, "If you spend your whole life, searching for love, you best be looking all around." I'm looking for something called 'love.' That means, to me, someone I can cuddle with, hold hands, kiss and have great sex with. A friend also. Not to mention someone I can have a decent conversation with.
My work schedule is going to be hectic this summer...lots of on-call work, although I'm booked solid this month, with a potential part-time position come fall; My sleep patterns are fairly standard (6-8hrs sleep) Having no roommates is a major plus (I live in an apartment between both hospitals near the galloping goose.) I bicycle and take public transit whenever walking would take too long, and have never had a driver's license.
People tell me I smile a lot, that I'm honest and very eccentric, although I do not suffer fools gladly (if at all.) After 5 years of trying out the 'dating scene', for the first time, I've come to realize life is more complex than the shallow, cliched and stereotyped fantasies i thought was "the way it is"...Why did i start dating so late in life? Before 2003 i figured my lot was to be a shy recluse. What changed? Found a job where i was treated as an equal - and that i found i loved helping people real time and face to face.
I have an amazing work ethic tempered by a need to be reasonable (my health and safety is paramount on the job)
I believe that patience, honesty, and tolerance flow from curiosity. I live my life learning about human nature from a hand's on perspective. Call it anarchic paganism if you will. I'm passionate about speaking truth to power; Discovering what leadership is all about i think is my most passionate goal in the search for meaning of life.
My total debts are less than a thousand
I'm not really mellow, since I'm more boisterous and expressive than taciturn and calm. I'd probably be horrible as a 'manly man' since I've never been in a fight, and I don't react well to "silent treatment" when a decent conversation would work better. Having said that I've hired a personal trainer to get me a six-pack and some mass, plus I might start taking Aikido again.
My clothing choices have definitely taken an upswing with this new career allowing me to go shopping alot more.
I'm a computer geek. Always have been. Never made a career out of it, although I take to helpdesk/techsupport like a duck to water. Personally, i think "helping people" is more rewarding face to face, and that's why I'm a care aide.

First Date
anything that allows a conversation to ebb and flow naturally. Do please have more than one recent photograph of yourself. I am not on here to entertain 'foody calls' since i am not on here for 'booty calls' so i expect to go 'dutch' on dates, especially the first one...I'm sorry if that's not romantic, it's just practical for this sort of site after 6 years of experience.

EDIT - june 2012: still in a relationship, still have same job. I have my hopes for both, although doubts as well to be honest. I have to be brave.
