About Me
Sensational Suitor seeks Stunning Scheherezade for Sumptuous Storytelling.

Come and enjoy the company of the interesting, eclectic & unique me! Many things will be on offer - both conventional and the more unusual/obscure. You'll need to be happy to balance between going out, the great outdoors, chilling, being intellectual, talking utter shite, a dose of geekiness and a liking for cats (I have two).

I'm Organised, practical, have friends from mid twenties through to sixty that I care a great deal about, a particularly active social life, enjoy new experiences (preferably not at the crack of dawn, unless I'm still up from the night before), rate events that involve meeting new people over staying in yet also love to cook for others.

I'm thoroughly modern, but feel no need to follow trends if I can't see the point. I own a Kindle, but don't watch TV. Love trying new food - both cooking and eating out, but don't care about most trendy bars. Have plenty of computer gear (some a tad vintage), but then spend lots of time outdoors without electronics. Attend interesting groups and talks, but have *no* interest in relationship games or old fashioned values. If you expect someone that keeps up with, cares (or even knows about) fashion trends, I'm really not for you - jeans and quirky t shirts are standard attire and I don't expect anything different in a partner.

I live at the edge of Greater Manchester, and whilst I like socialising in the city it's invaluable to be able to easily walk/run/bike/kayak around the Pennines and chill out. I'm thinking of running a fairly serious triathlon in a couple of years..

In addition to the usual friends/drinks/meals/films/sleep/work stuff my time is occupied with many other things:

Regular (and some irregular) events I attend include Manchester Skeptics, Goth book club, retro gaming, kayaking, board gaming, teawitter, Cake Liberation Front, various interesting Madlab events that turn up and almost any excuse to drink real ale and chat.

I'm a definite fan of cooking and baking - you should definitely advise on interesting new recipes and let me feed you tasty snacks. Whether you're an avid carnivore, a vegan or have dietary restrictions I can cook for you without batting an eyelid.

Computers are my work, and in different areas some of my hobbies too. In addition to keeping in touch with people and tinkering, I also enjoy computer games, programming and learning new technical stuff.

I don't get as much time to computer game as I'd like - friends, exercise, events and cooking take priority. Nevertheless I do like RPGs (Planescape:Torment, KOTOR, Oblivion), adventures (TLJ, Fate of Atlantis), indie games (Machinarium) and some FPS (Jedi Knight). Older stuff too - Dreamcast, Gamecube and ancient PC stuff. I'd love to Xbox but my games backlog is already huge..

I have two lovely cats, although there are limits as to how much I'll indulge them : really annoying cats get taken outside and if a cat is in a chair I want to sit on, it gets moved. Offers of play at 5am are also not appreciated!

I've written literature, helped run events and other things for the canoe club committee and various other events. I feel it's only right to help out a little after so many other people have been generous with their time otherwise life starts to lose meaning.

I'm not particularly good at art, but I do like studying it at times. Paintings wise for Manchester inhabitants, I would highlight Picasso's A Frugal Meal (Whitworth Art Gallery), Mervyn Peake's Glassblower (Manchester Art Gallery - yes, the same bloke who wrote Gormenghast), Lowry's sea pictures (The Lowry) and Valettes anatomy pictures (Manchester Art gallery) as particular favourites.

Music : Lately I have been listening to Annie Lennox, Paul Simon, Art of Noise, Debussy, Tomita, Mussorgsky, Sibelius, Goldfrapp, Pink, Rossini, the Righteous Brothers, k d Lang, Sash, Wumpscut and REM. Plus of course Radio 4, especially the comedy.

Do note that I spend considerable amounts of time playing no music at all. Computers and books are much more likely to monopolise my time, and outside specific music events (like the rather fab Nantwich Jazz and Blues festival) I just don't keep up with the scene. Maybe you could help?

On the book side, whilst dusty books can be enjoyable, I'm a big fan of the Kindle which enables me to read to and from work/events. Generally I divide my reading between classics, scifi, fantasy and thrillers.

Probably other stuff too. I'm usually not lost for words.

First Date
Interesting, independent, preferably busty child free women with a geeky streak and a love of trying different things are much appreciated - especially if your profile is more than a few lines long and is non generic.

Message me if you would like to go out with a view to something that will preferably become more serious over time but isn't going to develop into rapid domestic bliss. It'd be nice to have someone to balance things between manic weekends out and quieter weekends together or travelling. If you want something casual please ask upfront; it's not ideally what I'm looking for, but I'm not a monk..

Drop me a note if you can recommend cool festivals, events or good films/books/computer games/art.

If you're a parent or want children please find someone else - it really isn't something I'm interested in as part of my life. I don't actually hate children, but like them only in small doses.

Everything else is a nice to have rather than a necessity, but if you're a drug user (except alcohol or caffeine), a smoker, obsessed with television, have strong ideas what a 'man' or 'woman' should do in a relationship or are a dog owner I probably won't be particularly keen.
