About Me
Hey! I'm Jess, its a bit difficult describing yourself like an advertisement but here goes....
I'm a teeny tiny petite 4'11", but despite how petite I am, I tend to go for the taller guy! Maybe it's because I like the feeling of having a big tall strong man to protect me?! :P or maybe it's just because most people are just taller than me anyway!
I'm a pretty positive person, I want to make the most out of life and do as much as possible so I have lots of amazing funny stories and fantastic memories to keep.
I absolutely love to travel, I've been to lots of places around Asia and Europe which i really loved, but I now have my sights set on North and South America (sounds like im planning world domination lol) so my plan is to go to Costa Rica and do a volunteering project, like community building. So I'm learning Spanish in preparation!
I'm open to learning lots of new things, this year I hope to get started on learning to snowboard, and doing a skydive which I've wanted to do for absolutely ages!
I learnt to indoor rock climb a back in May this year, so I like to go as often as possible for a bit of practice with my climbing buddy.
I absolutely love dance in all its forms, going to my contemporary dance classes every week as a great way to keep fit and have fun at the same time, and I've started Tango classes too, which I'm really enjoying!
I'm into the arts in a big way, I love photography, and to watch and take part in contemporary dance. I'm also really into films, I'm a bit of a sci fi and horror geek, some of my favourite films are Back to the future, Dark City, Evil Dead. They may not be highbrow, but I love them all the same.
One other thing I love is finding unheard of indie films that usually wouldn't get a second look and discovering little gems :) I even have a little plan to make a 10 min short film of my own, certainly looks like fun!
In my spare time, I design and make clothes and accessories for myself and friends, usually designing and making prints or stencil graffiti for t-shirts. One of my projects at the moment is making a Japanese Kimono.
Baking and cooking is another hobby I fill my spare time with, usually if theres not much going on on a Sunday night, I'll bake loads of cupcakes or a cheesecake to take into work, certainly keeps me in the good books with everyone!
I have an eclectic taste in music, I'm into rock and alternative predominantly and like bands such as Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Paul Simon, Tricky, but also enjoy a bit of Blues and Soul with some Eric Bibb, Ry Cooder or Al Green, sometimes a bit of Pop and love a bit of Classical when i'm in the kitchen! Not much of a Radio 1 fan, much prefer BBC6 Music as its got a wide range of music to play which I like as it introduces me to so much more types of music and bands I wouldn't really hear on any other station, plus they have the brilliant Adam and Joe! At which point I would like to say to any other Black Squadron listeners reading this.....STEPHEN!
