About Me
Well, since I don't want this profile to be LAME and I desperately want everyone to LOVE me I guess I'll cover the guidelines that have been so generously laid out for me.
1. Talk about your hobbies:
I'm a musician...no a real one...I have a music degree that says I can play piano. I play in a bunch of rock, jazz, and funk bands and I whore myself out for cash on a regular basis. I'm a music whore. I also teach kids how to play piano. Since we're discussing hobbies I should mention that I take pictures (non-professionally). Photography has been #2 to music since I was 11. It's been like the son that joined dance class instead of playing football. Although I love both kids, I always loved him a little less (I don't actually have kids). Digital is great but I LOVE 35mm film for many tasks. I also like dirt biking, snowboarding, and backpacking.
2. Talk about your goals/aspirations:
I put all my effort into creating music in some way or another. The jazz road and the rock road are two extremely different ways of thinking. I try to progress in both genres at the expense of spreading myself a little thinner than I would like. The one thing I do know for a fact is that I will be playing jazz until I die. It is also my goal to be able to tell as many stories as I can when I'm old and feeble. I want to be "that old guy" that scares children who venture onto my property to build little jumps for their BMX bikes. It's tough to know for sure where I might end up tomorrow or 10 years from now. Money and material items hold no water next to my enthusiasm for music...obviously I'm no Rockefeller.
3. Talk about yourself and what makes you unique:
I say exactly what is on my mind, even if it is completely obscene and out of line. That's not to say I don't sensor myself, actually yeah it is. I tend to draw metaphors out of absolutely ANYTHING. Odd, unrelated comparisons of reality to my own little backwards world keep me entertained. People also entertain me. I have a real love/hate relationship with the public, though I'm not going to state my reasoning because I'm sure we all have our own reasons. I am not a pervert, however, I do like to talk about sex on a regular basis...all the time. I learn more from my own mistakes than anything else.
4. Your taste in music.
This question is crap. I have a certain amount of respect for all types of music and sound. Some genres demand more respect than others. It all boils down to the song and it's appealing characteristics. For instance, a song might talk about "making love in this club," and I might find that fascinating...but probably not. There is a line that has to be drawn between entertainment, and music that demands critical listening. I love it all to some extent but I find that these days I am getting my hands dirty sifting through piles of horse sh*t before I find a jem. Yes...yes you read correctly.
