First off, a dinner on the first date is creepy. It sets up too much tension and expectation and is not cool at all. Also, a movie is just plain stupid. You sit there and don't talk, and it gets all awkward. *Yay.*
A first "date" for me would probably involve a trip to the local Timmies (or Second Cup...they have killer apple cider there) to chat and compare common interests, or even uncommon interests, because they are often just as, if not more, interesting than the common. Or maybe something fun but not too intense, like a local hockey game or out for drinks and a round of foos-ball and pool. If that went well, then maybe we could start talking about dinners and beyond, when the atmosphere between us is a bit more familiar.
